The National Institute of Educational Testing Service (Public Organization) (NIETS) had the meeting for NIETS testing center representatives of grade 6 and grade 9 for O-NET academic year 2019 at the Centara and Convention Center hotel, Udon Thani on Tuesday 25th June 2019.
65 participants in the meeting were Director of Provincial Education Office, Primary and Secondary Educational Service Area Office, representatives from 7 provinces of Northeast; Nakhon Phanom, Bueng Kan, Loei, Sakon Nakhon, Nong Khai, Nong Bua Lamphu, and Udon Thani Province.
sst.Prof. Sirida Burachat, Ph.D. , the director of NIETS spoke on the standardization of O-NET which emphasized on the five standards of NIETS: they are 1) test administration standard, 2) testing personnel standard, 3) test development standard, 4) test printing standard, and 5) test report and test result standard. She emphasized on strictly enforcing rules and regulations as well as conducting oneself according to the manual of administering national examination to prevent any controversy of testing administration. Following the instruction in the manual would increase the public confidence toward the organization (transparency), and standard should be held the same throughout all testing centers according to practice guideline procedure about testing standards in B.E.2557 (A.D. 2014). NIETS also gave an opportunity to public in sharing such comments and feedbacks for improvement via four channels as followed: (1) directly line to executive (2) by post/mail (3) email: testing@niets.or.th and (4) call center +662-217-3800
She also recommended the participants to make use of O-NET score results for any practical purposes in enhancing education quality and developing learning achievement in student level, teacher level, school level, administrator level, and affiliation level. In the last session, attendees had an opportunity to share their concerns and suggestions.
Mr. Patana Thanakorn, Head of Testing Administration Department, informed that objectives of conducted meeting for NIETS testing center representatives of grade 6 and grade 9 were to give an overview of last year testing administration of O-NET and to prepare all staffs administering the test for O-NET academic year 2019 by reemphasized NIETS testing center representatives (1) set up working group and provide meeting, (2) inform the work schedule to schools, (3) supervise, follow up about sending the students’ information and conduct testing fields/test room, and (4) all staffs should administer in accordance with O-NET tentative schedule.
The tentative schedule of O-NET for the academic year 2019 for grade 6 will be held on 1st February 2020 (test result announcement on 25th March 2019), for grade 9 will be held on 1st-2nd February 2020 (test result announcement on 26th March 2020), and for grade 12 will be held on 29th February – 1st March 2020 (test result announcement on 27th March 2020).
