NIETS prepared V-NET academic year 2021 with Digital Testing System

The National Institute of Educational Testing Service (Public Organization) (NIETS) conducted online meeting on “Vocational National Educational Test (V-NET) academic year 2021 with Digital Testing System.” The representatives from educational institutions were invited to the Zoom meeting on Friday, December 24th, 2021 from 10.00 – 12.00 a.m.
Asst.Prof. Sirida Burachat, Ph.D., Director of NIETS as chairperson, presided over the meeting, welcomed the participants and clearly defined “Policies and direction of V-NET academic year 2021 with Digital Testing System” that V-NET was first conducted in the academic year 2010 at the Vocational Certificate level. In the academic year 2011, V-NET was held at both levels, Vocational Certificate and Higher Vocational Certificate. NIETS has first adopted digital testing system in V-NET academic year 2020, by organizing 6 rounds of test.
V-NET academic year 2021 consists of 8 components as follows: (1) fundamental knowledge for professions, (2) teamwork, (3) order compliance, (4) work planning and scheduling, (5) problem solving and decision making, (6) systematic thinking, (7) English language competency, and (8) digital literacy competency. V-NET takers will obtain their score of the test which can be assessed their own competency. The educational institutions can be aware of the competence of the test takers and use the test results to improve their teaching and learning quality as well. In addition, any V-NET takers whose score of English competency test is more than or equal to 80%, will get a certificate from NIETS. And if the Digital Literacy test score is more than or equal to 65%, he/she can request to certificate to Digital Competency Standards Level 1 from Thailand Professional Qualification Institute (Public Organization). V-NET is offered free of charge to all those from Vocational Education Institutions who wish to attend. This test is an opportunity for test takers to evaluate and assess their competency. They can take the test at the testing fields/sites at their own school or at the fields/sites as nearby.
Moreover, during the epidemic, NIETS has measures to prevent the spread of the COVID-19, such as cleaning the test rooms and test fields. There are a temperature screening point, hand sanitizer gel service point, properly wearing a cloth mask or a hygienic mask, arranging test rooms by social distancing, etc. for safety of test takers and related personnel.
Ms.Saitong Puaysantear, Ph.D., Deputy Director of NIETS, gave a talk on V-NET academic year 2021 with Digital Testing system. She mentioned 3 objectives of V-NET academic year 2021 as follows: (1) To test knowledge and assess readiness for the 21st century professional skills and continuous self-improvement, (2) To provide data for educational institutions to use as information for improving and developing teaching and learning management and vocational education administration of the institutes, and (3) To serve as data and information for driving vocational education of the country in accordance with the education development plan and the national development plan. She also clarified V-NET developments, guidelines for V-NET developing, V-NET components and presented V-NET digital literacy competency test sample.
Mr. Traithep Sirisun, Head of Information and Technology Division, said in brief about the Digital Testing System adopted in V-NET academic year 2021.
Ms.Warunee Liewwiwatchai, Ph.D., Deputy Director of NIETS and Mr. Patana Thanakorn, Head of Testing Administration and Center Network Division, mentioned the restructuring of testing administration and management. By the academic year 2021, NIETS had been getting a courtesy from 19 vocational institutions and the Northeastern Vocational Institute of Agricultural of being testing coordinating centers. Ms.Warunee Liewwiwatchai said more about NIETS contact channels for educational institutions. In the last part of the meeting, the participants had an opportunity to ask questions, sharing idea, opinions and recommendations.
