On 7 March 2023, Deputy Education Minister (Khunying Kalaya Sophonpanich) presided over the opening ceremony of O-NET scoring center for an essay writing test of Thai language subject for grade 6 and 9 students in the 2022 academic year. In addition, Distinguished Member of the University Council as the chairman of the scoring center at Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (Acting President of STOU, Assoc. Prof. Manit Jumpa, Ph.D.) delivered a welcome speech and Director of National Institute of Educational Testing Service (Public Organization) (Asst. Prof. Sirida Burachat, Ph.D.) gave an overall picture of O-NET scoring for an essay writing test of Thai language subject. The ceremony was broadcasted on Zoom Meeting from computer laboratory no. 2018 at Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University.
In the 2022 academic year, NIETS cooperated with 8 universities which are Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University, Burapha University, Silpakorn University (Sanamchandra place), Prince of Songkla University, Walailak University, Khon Kaen University, Naresuan University, Nakhon Ratchasima Rajabhat University and National Institute of Educational Testing Service (Public Organization) in order to be online scoring centers during 7-18 March,2023.
NIETS also cooperated with The Sirindhorn Thai Language Institute and some Thai language experts from universities to create program and criteria for O-NET essay writing test of Thai language and to be a key speaker in a training for scoring. Moreover, teachers who participated in scoring the test will have an opportunity to share knowledge with others.
After the scoring process finish, NIETS is going to collect and present the O-NET essay writing test of Thai language’s finding so that students, teachers, administrators, schools and people, who are interested, can utilize these findings for teaching development and enhancing Thai Language lesson plans.
