The Minister of Education (Police General Permpoon Chidchob) visited the O-NET examination hall for secondary level 6 at Sriayudhya School and had an online meeting with 62 Secondary Educational Service Area Offices nationwide via the Zoom system.

On Saturday, February 24, 2024, the Minister of Education (Police General Permpoon Chidchob), the Director of National Institute of Educational Testing Service (Public Organization) (Asst. Prof. Sirida Burachat, Ph.D.), the secretary of the Basic Education Commission of Thailand (Acting Sub. Lieutenant Thanu Wongjinda), the Director of the Secondary Educational Service Area Office Bangkok 1 (Niyom Paisopa, Ph.D.) and the working team visited an examination hall of the Ordinary National Educational Test (O-NET) for secondary level 6 in the fiscal year 2023 at Sriayudhya School under the royal patronage of the king. The director of school (Kittisak Sompon, Ph.D.) and teachers gave a kind greeting to the visiting group, meanwhile, the Minister of Education had online visits for O-NET examination halls by online meeting with the directors of the Secondary Educational Service Area Office at 62 sites nationwide in order to get the overall operational report of O-NET testing from schools as examination halls via the Zoom Cloud Meeting system.

The O-NET testing of secondary level 6 in the fiscal year 2023, was opened 2 rounds on February 24 – 25, 2024 and March 2 – 3, 2024. The examination halls were located on 62 sites of the Secondary Educational Service Area Office. The testing applicants this year total 211,243, which can be divided as follows:

(1) Digital testing system, 207,456 participants, 1,957 examination halls, and 7,633 exam rooms, the testing was done in four rounds, as below:

-The first round, on February 24, 2024, there were 51,963 participants.

-The second round, on February 25, 2024, there were 52,290 participants.

-The third round, on March 2, 2024, there were 51,843 participants.

-The fourth round, on March 3, 2024, there were 51,360 participants.

(2) Paper pencil form, 3,787 participants, 3 examination halls (in Pattani Province)

The results of O-NET testing at secondary level 6 will be announced on March 29, 2024, on the official website, www.niets.or.th. The O-NET testing results report the information at multiple levels for individuals, schools, the Educational Service Area Office, the Provincial Education Office, the Regional Education Office, affiliation, and nation. Findings and evaluation results from the exam could provide information comparing educational quality at a variety of levels in order to plan the quality development of educational management, as well as, encourage national policy decision-making procedures. NIETS has administered our missions according to the Ministry of Education’s main emphasis and policy of learning “Anywhere, Anytime” by the Minister of Education (Police General Permpoon Chidchob). After the announcement of test results, we prepared a supportive event to sustain the findings of O-NET testing to apply for educational quality in teaching and learning management by operating online and onsite training courses for educational institutes’ executives, teachers, and official staff nationwide. They focus on practical knowledge, technical teaching for testing blue print building chart analysis, examination analysis, quality of testing production, and information usage from national education testing results to make plans for learning and teaching improvement and to promote the level of educational quality.

Furthermore, NIETS has an online testing system for learning development, which is a testing system developed on a web application and compatible with a variety of electronic equipment. The system serves students and interested people for knowledge testing, thinking skills analysis, and problem solving, in order to recognize their distinctive points and weaknesses for improvement and further design study plans in the future. On this occasion, NIETS appreciated the Minister of Education (Police General Permpoon Chidchob) who had the honor to be the visiting leader of O-NET testing for secondary level 6, the secretary of the Basic Education Commission of Thailand (Acting Sub. Lieutenant Thanu Wongjinda), the Secondary Educational Service Area Office totaling 62 sites nationwide as examination centers, and the great cooperation from examination halls and relevant officers for testing operations achievement according to national education testing standards.
