NIETS had an online explication meeting with O-NET examination centers for O-NET testing at primary school level 6 and secondary school level 3 in the academic year 2024.

On July 9, 2024, the National Institute of Educational Testing Service (Public Organization), or NIETS, organized an online explication meeting of the Ordinary National Educational Test, or O-NET, with a working team of examination centers in the academic year 2024. There were official and relevant units working as examination centers in this meeting, consisting of the Primary Educational Service Area Office 183 locations, the Provincial Education Office 76 locations, the Local Education Office 76 locations, the Office of Private Education in five of the Southern provinces (Songkhla, Satun, Yala, Pattani, and Narathiwat), the Department of Education Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, the Bureau of Education Pattaya, and related units such as the Bureau of Educational Testing, the Bangkok Provincial Education Office, the Department of Local Administration, Promotion and Development of Royal Initiative Schools, and Royal Commemorative Schools Center.
Asst. Prof. Sirida Burachat, Ph.D, the director of NIETS gave the welcome speech for all participants and lectured about O-NET testing and its preparatory procedures in the academic year 2024. According to the missions of NIETS, we engaged in the utilization of O-NET testing score results for teaching and learning quality improvement by O-NET testing results reports of individuals and at the school level in six issued, including findings derived from the subjective test marking. Furthermore, NIETS arranged projects and activities both on site and online to encourage O-NET testing results application as tools for upgrading learning and teaching by “lead to think and do.”
For the testing schedule in the academic year 2024 at the primary school level 6, it will be on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the secondary school level 3, on Sunday, February 2, 2025. Both educational levels would use paper pencils and the digital testing system for those schools that are ready for computer equipment and an internet network. For O-NET testing at secondary school level 6, testing will be organized by the digital system and start on February 22 – 23, 2025, and March 1 – 2, 2025 (divided into 4 rounds). The O-NET testing management requested that examination centers and examination halls conduct respectively, the national testing standards and the testing procedure manual in order to have transparency and uniform standards in every examination hall.
The chief of testing administration and center network division (Mr. Pattana Thanakorn) stated the objectives of this meeting in order to confirm the preparation and the testing schedule in academic year 2024 for examination centers and promote the operational timeline for schools, such as the deadline that schools have to send students data via the system during August 1 to September 30, 2024. For the O-NET pilot testing, using the digital testing system for primary school level 6 and secondary school level 3, examination centers have to survey schools that have promptly acquired equipment and internet networks for that testing. Moreover, it had suggestions for the usage of the testing management system and a session for inquiries and comments from participants.
The computer technical officer (Ms.Nittaya Kanbua) advised on the usage technique of the O-NET testing program for data delivery of students and examination rooms that schools have to arrange and deliver those data during August 1 to September 30, 2024. This year, NIETS developed a functional program encouraging examination centers and schools to access the system and study testing procedure manuals that can be downloaded from the system.
