NIETS Calls for a meetings for O-NET of academic year 2018 for Primary and Secondary Levels at Udonthani Province

            The National Institute of Educational Testing Service (Public Organization) hosted a meeting on Thursday 2nd August 2018, concerning O-NET examination of 2018 academic year at Centara Hotel and Convention Center, Udonthani Province. More than attendees from Provincial Educational Service Area Office, Primary and Secondary Educational Service Area Office, participated in the program which consist of 7 Province of Northeast; Nakhon Phanom, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lamphu, Loei, Udon Thani and Sakon Nakhon Province.

            Associate Professor Dr. Samphan Phanpruk, the director of NIETS, presided over the meetings and spoke on the standardization of O-NET which emphasized on the five standards of NIETS: they are 1) test administration standard, 2) testing personnel standard, 3) test development standard, 4) test printing standard, and 5) test report and test result standard. He emphasized on strictly enforcing rules and regulations as well as conducting oneself according to the manual of administering national examination to prevent any controversy of testing administration. Following the instruction in the manual would increase the public confidence toward the organization (transparency), and standard should be held the same throughout all testing centers according to practice guideline procedure about testing standards in B.E.2557 (A.D. 2014). In addition, he suggested the benefit of O-NET score that NIETS publicized analysis result of examination quality for schools and educational institutes in order to apply for the improvement of learning and teaching as well as educational quality assurance. Before testing will be held, therefore, NIETS advertise said useful information in preparing students that we publicized on our website such as Test Blueprint, testing patterns, example of answer sheet in each subjects.

             Mr. Patana Thanakorn, Head of Testing Administration Department, gave an overview of last year administration of O-NET and the result implementation was satisfied. He reemphasized all staff administering the test is to strictly follow the rule and regulation in the manual. He also announced the schedule of O-NET for the academic year 2018. O-NET test period for Grade 6 will be on 2 February 2019 (result announcement date 25 March), for Grade 9 will be on 2-3 February 2019 (result announcement date 26 March), and for Grade 12 will be on 2-3 March 2019 (result announcement date 31 March).
